AGBEKOYA

 Prologue:

As a lad who was one of those so clever
Or so it appeared to be for his mates
But he chose to give up education forever
Following a phase of life he truly hates

As a child growing up in a town
Where many are found to be content
With merry, cheer and lack of a frown
He yearned for a much scholarly intent

Miss Tawa and Aderopo were all in his school
When he and the Prince were chosen to leave
And surely at the time he would have felt that was cool
Until the nightmares began to heave

Father Dowling beckons at midnight
“Koya, it is time for evening prayers”
His face is clearly written in fright
But he could not disclose to his peers

Finally he rebelled as he had had enough
After six months of torment, anguish and pain
And chose to no longer remain tough
But efforts to make Ropo leave were all in vain

Back to Akote with a broken spirit and soul
He was not able to tell his gruesome tale
Burning deep in his heart a huge hole
His educational ambitions failed to set sail

Along the way he created a firewall
In a bid to protect his mind as well as his son
Within the cocoa trees that have grown so tall
A mystery for Tawa, for Danladi and everyone

When eventually his silence broke
He averted the cold hands of death
As well as the dark spirits Aderopo had to invoke
For Miss Tawa to leave the planet earth

EPILOGUE:
Agbekoya desired to be an accomplished man
An aspiration for us all no doubt
But with a broken spirit comes a new plan
For survival we cannot live without…
